Dr. Anita Davis-DeFoe

Quoted as a career and workforce development expert in Essence and Black Enterprise Magazines; in the New Jersey Business Journal; on Madame Noire.com, among others, Dr. Anita Davis–DeFoe, has over 20 years of experience motivating, coaching, inspiring and transforming individuals and organizations. A graduate of the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and Antioch University, Dr. DeFoe holds a Ph.D. in Management with a focus in Organization and Human Development. A John Maxwell certified mastermind group facilitator, speaker and trainer, she has crafted and implemented myriad organizational, leadership and human development programs aimed at assisting people of all ages to discover boundless unique strengths; to rebound from life challenges, to unleash their inner greatness as leaders.  Dr. Davis-DeFoe has authored over $20 million in grants which funded a range of youth, workforce, housing, educational, domestic violence, recreational and community economic development programs across the United States and Caribbean.

A consultant with expertise in gender programs, organization, business and leadership development; social enterprise and start-ups; personal development, change and quality management, Dr. Davis-DeFoe has been a columnist for In the Zone Magazine (New York), She Caribbean (St. Lucia) and is an Editor for Businessuite Magazine (Jamaica), Truly Caribbean Magazine (Montserrat) and other online publications. She is a member of the Social Enterprise Alliance, the Association for Women’s Rights in Development, and the Society for International Development. In 2012, in honor of her global human development and social entrepreneurship work, Dr. DeFoe was named the first Woman Chief by the ITAM CLAN in Akwa Ibom State Nigeria. She is the Editor-In-Chief for SaS Magazine, Solutions and Strategies for Women, published in partnership with Blackslate Media Holdings – Jamaica.

Dr. Davis-DeFoe also serves as the General Secretary/CEO of YWCA US Virgin Islands. In this role she design and implements programs and services for women specifically and the community in general focused on leadership, entrepreneurship, health, wellness, financial literacy, violence against women and girls, and domestic violence. 

She is the author of a rites of passage curriculum for girls entitled, Soulful One: For Girls on the Pathway to Greatness; and three books, A Woman’s Guide to Soulful Living: Seven Keys to Life and Work Success; Tropical Escapes, a novel; and Follow Her Lead: Leadership Lessons For Women As They Journey From the Backroom to the Boardroom, cited as a must read by 2011 Echoing Green Social Entrepreneur Finalists. Dr. DeFoe is one of 40 contributing authors to “100 Words of Wisdom for Women,” a thirty day workbook and journal for women. The Execution Factor: 99 Strategies That Ignite Organizational Effectiveness is slated for release in 2014.  Anita speaks at conferences, retreats, seminars, and for special events globally spreading her inspirational messages designed to transform people and places.

MRS. COMFORT OSIFO DI LORENZO

NEUMAG:  Hello Madam, Having this interview with you is a great Honour,
how do you feel about it.


MRS. COMFORT: Hello,I feel honoured and prvileged.

NEUMAG:  Apart from being a Record Label Executive, what else do you do

MRS. COMFORT: Well,am also into politics,social and humanitarian activities.

NEUMAG: How long have you been into Entertainment Business and How many years
is Comfort Records.

MRS.COMFORT: I have been into Entertainment Business for so many years now I've
owned  and run a night club,bar and resturant.And Comfort Records and Entertainment
had it's official stand in 2010 when it signed it's first record label artist call Spurz d'Nero
with "OMOBE" and followed by others.
NEUMAG: Will you like to one day Invite your coleagues in the Entertainment Business
to Celebrate with you, Comfort Records many years anniversay?

MRS. COMFORT: Sure,it will be lovely,celebration of success.

NEUMAG:  Through your Label ‘’Comfort Records’’ you have promoted a number of
Nigerian Artists by Engaging them on Europe Tour, how did you go into showbiz

MRS. COMFORT: Being in entertainment world,a brother and close friend asked me
one day,why not go into promotion and Awilo was on europe tour then and a kind of
joke before I knew it we were in it, of which I will always be grateful to him for support
and encouragement.

NEUMAG:  As the only Female Nominated among  Men for the Award ‘’Naija EU
Promoter of the Year, how did you feel when the news came to you.

MRS. COMFORT: I felt so happy about it and it means so much to me and am grateful to
the organizers,they made me realize a woman can also do it.And is 1love.

NEUMAG:  We still have a couple of Questions, but before we go on, Please formally
instroduce yourself to the world.

MRS. COMFORT: Smile,am just Mrs Comfort Osifo Di Lorenzo, CEO Comfort Records,
easy going,free spirit,caring,lovely and God fearing.

NEUMAG:   We also gathered that you are a Politician and right now you hold a very
important position, Tell us about it.

MRS. COMFORT: Oh yes, am a double vice president of both National Union of
Nigerians  Associations in Italy-NUNAI and Edo National Associations in Italy-ENAI,
a BOT member of NIDOE, present chairman of Democratic Progressive Movements Italy
Chapter and many more and I try to always organise myself to be efficient in all aspects.

NEUMAG:  Back to Entertainment, How do you see showbiz in diaspora compared to
Nigeria of today.

MRS. COMFORT: Well,we still need energetic forces,propaganda to showcase our
talented artists in diaspora.

NEUMAG:  The Artists in Europe has been making effort to gain recognition in Nigeria,
to gain further recognition, how do you think they should go about it.

MRS. COMFORT: I think we should work harder on informations,publicities and organise
shows and programs back home in Nigeria.

NEUMAG: As an Experienced Entertainment Executive, if you were asked to advise the
Europe Based Nigerian Artists on what to do to step up their game, what advice will you
offer them.

MRS. COMFORT: I will advise them to be humble always,not to be talent drunk and
not to be materialistic because you never know who you have in front on your day of glory.

NEUMAG:  We know you have passion for music, apart from listening to music, what
do you do at your freetime.

MRS. COMFORT: Clubbing,I can dance all night and most important my family that are
source of my inspirations,cooking for them,especially when we do home pizza together  and
we have fun.
